Smart Cities have paved the way for the development of new services in the tourism sector.
The “smart” concept is based on the intensive use of ICT infrastructures, as well as on the proliferation of mobile technology and its applications.
However, a destination is not intelligent because it uses technology intensely.
It is smart because it also uses technology to seek a deeper understanding of the characteristics and meaning of human mobility and of everything that goes with it (accessibility to facilities by disabled and elderly people, smart signage, …).
HIT Center uses UX knowledge and skills to encourage local tourism institutions and industries to create knowledge-based policies and advanced mobile services for human-centered visitors.
It’s a new approach to the concept and design of Smart Destination to achieve this vision.
